Due to recent rain, the MacArthur Sewer Project is temporarily pausing before resuming the next phase of work. Crews are expected to return by the end of March to begin night work, focusing on abandoning and replacing old forcemains and manholes before progressing to the final paving stage. We appreciate the community’s patience as we work to complete this important project.
This project is expected to be completed by Spring 2025*.
*All dates and times are subject to change due to operational factors or inclement weather.
Project Benefits:
- This project will replace aging sewer infrastructure originally constructed in 1960.
- The new force mains will enhance the reliability and efficiency of the sewer system.
- Improved operation and maintenance safety will be achieved.
Project Description
The OC San MacArthur Sewer Improvements Project will construct two new pressurized sewer pipelines, or force mains, along 1/3-mile of right-of-way on MacArthur Blvd. in the City of Newport Beach. Additionally, this Project will abandon about 1/2-mile of pipe that is no longer needed and modify an existing access structure located at the intersection of Birch Street and MacArthur Blvd. Work will also occur at the OC San MacArthur Pump Station. Construction is slated to take approximately one year to complete.
