Cypress Trunk Sewer

Construction work is currently underway in the City of Cypress, with some work bordering the City of Los Alamitos. Crews are expected to return to Los Alamitos for night work in the upcoming weeks. This construction webpage will reflect the latest construction updates.

Current Work – Cities of Cypress and Los Alamitos

Location: Moody St. and Orange Ave. (see map below)

Crews are performing manhole preparation and rehabilitation work at multiple locations along Moody St., turning west onto Orange Ave. Street restoration will follow.

• When: Ongoing – January 2025*
• Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m.*

Location: Starting near the intersection of Denni St. and Ball Ave., moving south toward Katella Ave. (see map below)

Work will take place at night during low-flow and include pipe inspection, cleaning, and grouting. 

• When: Ongoing – end of December 2025*
• Hours: Sunday-Friday, 8:00 p.m.-6:00 a.m.*

Upcoming Work – City of Cypress

Location: Intersection of Moody St. and Lincoln Ave.  (see map below)

The temporary bypass system used to maintain sewer service during manhole work has been removed. Crews will be returning to the intersection for street restoration.

• When: Starting as early as Monday, December 15, – end of December 2025*
• Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m.*

Work Impacts: 

• Reduced traffic lanes – left turns may be limited
• Temporary traffic control while work is being performed 
• Increased activity, dust, and noise levels

Project Description:

The regional sewer line in the cities of Cypress, Los Alamitos, and La Palma is approximately 50 years old and in need of upgrades. The Cypress Trunk Sewer Project will focus on enhancing about 7 miles of sewer, replacing portions of the pipe with larger diameter pipe to increase the capacity, or rehabilitating other segments of pipe to extend the life of the sewer system. Approximately 100 manholes will also be replaced and/or rehabilitated. These repairs will extend the life of the sewer pipes by another 50 years.

Schedule:
Construction is anticipated to begin in Summer 2025 and last approximately 3 years.
